tomorrow
That moment when there is absolutly nothing new on either Blogger, or Facebook, and you just know that within the next hour your facebook page is going to blow up with notifications. See tomorrow (more like an hour....) Is my 16th birthday!! I will write more about this tomorrow morning (Late start on my birthday??? I think YES!)

So here I am sitting at my brand new desk that my cool unkle put together for me today.
See, I will turn 16 in 2 days! YAHOO!
I't a good feeling!
So I am sitting here at my brand new desk with classical music playing in the background. Yes, you heard right...classical music...I have recently become a nerd with a liking in classical music for studying. (And sometimes I secretly listen to it when I'm not doing homework...like right now!)
My life has gotten busy, as I knew it would. Between school, homework, tumbling, coaching, work at Bowmans, Key club, and young womens life has been a little hectic. But It has turned out to be easier than I expected. I'm pretty sure the reason I have started listening to classical music is to just keep me sane through my honors homework. (Remember when I told you about my honors class HERE?) I was nervious about World Civ honors, becuase history is NOT my best, or favorite subject, But I took my first big test on Friday and only missed 1 question, so I'm feeling pretty good.
So school has been good. Tumbling has been great! I have gotten really far with improving my whips, and fulls thanks to my FANTASTIC coach Ashlie! Ashlie is leaving on her mission in about two and a half weeks. We will miss her so much, but at the same time we are so excited for her.
There is a lot going on in the gym. Some good, some not quite so good, but I know it will turn out the way it should in the end. It always does.
So here I leave you with a thought from sunday school that stuck out to me today. If it was prophisied that the 2nd coming would take place 5 years from today, what would you do differently in your life? I know for me I would study the scriptures more than I already do. I would play with my siblings more, I would share my testmony with everyone I knew. I would try to be a better example of Christ in my every day actions. Nobody knows when Christ will come again, but can you imagine if we all lived our lives the way we would if we did know when? We wouldn't fight wars, and we wouldn't hold back our light from the world. We don't know when it will happen, but we know the time is soon, and we must always be preparing for that great day. As Gods army, we must fight as hard as we can. We already know who is going to win this war, but we must make sure we are on the winning side when the war is won.

Lancer Pride

Last night was our high school homecoming game. I went with some of my Junior friends because my Sophmore friends where lame and they all either couldn't go, or didn't want to. I had a BLAST! We went to Carinas house before and colored our hair, painted our faces, and ate food, then we went to the game and It was great except for the part where the tall guy in the purple shirt stood infront of me.... The downside of being 4 foot 9. Layton won and we headed to Burger Stop after. Then when Burger stop closed the lady kicked us out so we hung out in the parking lot by the drive through for a while and had a blast. Last night was super fun! Thanks for a fun night! GO LANCERS!

Blink of an eye
So I'm sitting here at 9:56 at night. I just got home from the old people dinner dinner with the youth (mutual), and before that Coaching, and I still have mounds of homework to do. So quite frankly I shouldn't even be on here so I'll try to make it quick! (try...)
So I'm sitting here contemplating my 1st week of high school, and reading a blog of an EFY counselor of mine that I love dearly, and wondering where my future will take me. These last few years have come at me so fast, I'm pretty sure I only blinked and 7th grade turned into 10th. I feel like I was a beehive last week at mutual, and now I'm one of the oldest. A very wise teacher of mine told me that we would forget what happened in jr. High. I didn't believe it, but I have found more, and more of that to be true. Though I may forget the people, and the inside jokes, I will never forget the feeling I had when I did my final theatre performance, or the way I felt about that class.
I will never forget the way EFY changed my life.
I will never forget EFY changed my life for the 2nd time.
Last year when we came to an end of summer I was NOT excited to return to school. I hated the actual "school" part (and I think theatre was the only thing that kept me sane.) This year was no different, however this year I started school with a different attitude. I was going to start school wether or not I liked it, so I might as well decide to like it. I was determined to put aside pride, and start asking questions in class (mostly math, which is my hardest subject in school, and I hate admitting I don't understand it.) I was determined to get to know as many people as I could. I was determined to have fun. This last week and a half has proven to be a fantastic week. I prayed a lot. I have learned a lot about life. I do miss things from Jr. High (like the dress code... Yes I said dress code) and mamma L and my favorite sewing teacher. Now the majority of my teachers are crazy old men, but the enjoyment hasn't ceased. The last three years came in a blink of an eye, and here I am facing the next three years with an open eye, and open hands ready to catch whatever life tries to throw at me. I pray that I will catch good things, though I know it cant all be sweet, so I pray that I will be able to swallow the bitter and become stronger because of it. I pray for help with school work, I pray for my team mates, I pray for success in tumbling, I pray for my friends, I pray I will be strong, I pray that I will be a good example, I pray that I will be safe, I pray that I will have a good day. I pray that I will succeed. But mostly, I just pray.

For a reason
I'm a strong believer that people come in and out of our lives for a reason. Every person in your life has a purpose. Either to teach you something, or be a friend, or make you stronger. There is always a reason why people leave our lives, it may be because you have learned the lesson you where meant to learn from them, and somebody needs them somewhere else. Sometimes they will comeback, but sometimes people leave our lives, so that there is room for others to move into our lives. Treasure your friends, because you never know how long you will stay close, and you don't know what you've got till its gone. Be the best friend, so that even after you part ways they will always remember the kind of person you where. To all the people that have circled through my life in the last almost 16 (7 days!!) years... You have changed me for the better. You have made me stronger, and taught me so much through your words, as well as your example. You have made me who I am today. Thank you.

Sunlight
I don't know if I've ever done a post on why I named my blog what I named it. So here it is!
Feel my Sunlight
So as you all probubly know, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day saints aka "the Mormons".
I heard this talk by Diter F. Uchdorf.
Since I have made several blogs before, when I heard this I had the thought to make a blog where I could write my beliefs. So, the title of my blog came about because of D&C 115:5, which was the mutual theme for the youth, as well as the theme for EFY. (and we all know I love EFY!)
Arise
and
shine forth,
That thy
Light
May be a Standard
For the Nations.
D&C 115:5
It got me thinking about how I can share my light with others. It made me want to become a better person, and help others become better also. I believe that in this world we can get so caught up in our to-do lists, and our busy lives, that we sometimes forget to take a moment to stop and evaluate how others view us. Our goal is to bring others to the light, and the best way to do that is to share your light with others. It can be as simple as a smile in the hall way, or it can be as extensive as sharing a Book of Mormon. No matter what we do, people are always watching us. We need to share our light with others in as many ways as we can. We are the sons and daughters of a hevenly being, and not everyone knows it. It is our job to share that knowledge with the rest of the world. There have been so many songs, videos, and quotes inspired by this theme, and I have found so many scriptures that go along with this. Here are just a few, and my thoughts on them.
The world needs our light! We must shine for everyone to see. Make the right choices, and help your friends do the same. This song was from the EFY CD from this summer. It was one of my favorites on the CD. The time to prepare is over, the time to shine is now!
Is there a way to safety? Is there an escape from threatened destruction? The answer is a resounding yes! I counsel you to look to the lighthouse of the Lord. I have said it before; I will say it again: there is no fog so dense, no night so dark, no gale so strong, no mariner so lost but what the lighthouse of the Lord can rescue. It beckons through the storms of life. It calls, “This way to safety. This way to home.” It sends forth signals of light easily seen and never failing. If followed, those signals will guide you back to your heavenly home.
-Thomas S. Monson

I love this quote by President Thomas S. Monson! The light of Christ will guide us to where we need to go if we will just follow it. He will guide us to safety, and will protect us if we will let him.
"Wherefor, stand ye in holy places,
and be not moved,
until the day of the lord come:
for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the lord, Amen
-D&D 87:5
We must stand in the light at all times. Don't go places where the spirit can not be. Stand in places where you will not be tempted to give up your standards.
I promise you that within the next few days you will feel the illumination of the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Ghost in your everyday life. When you walk in the light, you will feel at that moment some of the warmth and the happiness that will finally be yours when you are welcomed home again with the hundreds and perhaps thousands of others whom you will bring with you, who have walked in the light because you did.
-Henry B. Eyering
(to read the rest of this talk click ------> HERE!)
I know that when I walk in the light I feel the spirit stronger durring the day. If you walk in the light you can have the spirit with you at all times to help you make decisions. We need to share our light with others so they can have it too!
We are children of god and we are made to shine the light,
That which is of God is
Light:
and he that recieveth
Light...
recieveth more
Light
and that
Light
groweth brighter & brighter
until the perfect day.
D & C 50:4
When we shine our light through our example, people pick up on it and begin to share their light. The army of god will continue to grow stronger until the day the Lord comes.
When we shine our light through our example, people pick up on it and begin to share their light. The army of god will continue to grow stronger until the day the Lord comes.
Did you recignize me??? This is a video from my session at EFY this year. This is how we will arise and shine forth in our lives.
This is a three part video series by David A. Bednar. He tells us how we can recieve revalation from God. Sometimes it is imediate, but more often it is slow and comes gradually.
We live in a hard world. Sometimes we may feel we aren't good enough, but we need to remember that we are sons and daughters of God, and he needs us to be examples for the rest of the world.
These two videos came from A Brand New Year back in 2008. I attended this performance and it made me want to go be a better person. To go and shine my light to the world.
I love this video! The world needs YOUR light. Be the best you can be, and share your light with everyone.
So I don't know about you, but I feel like shining our light is an important thing. For me shining my light means that we need to be a good example in all of our actions. We need to keep the commandments of the Lord, and never sacrafice our standards. We need to share the gosple with everyone through our words, as well as our actions. We need to let our friends know our standards and help them keep high standards. We need to be attending Seminary, Church, Young Womens, and other church meetings, and do our best to get as much out of them as we can. We need to dress modestly, and use good language. We need to be earnestly studying our scriptures, and saying our prayers daily. We need to be friends everyone, and make everyone feel loved. We are sons and daughters of God. We have been given a light that we need to follow, and share with all the world.
